Utility Meter Technician

Specific Duties And Responsibilities
- Fulfills daily work orders
- Investigates and troubleshoots issues with Automated Metering Infrastructure (AMI) meters
- Assists with the reading of water meters as needed
- Schedules the replacement and testing of commercial meters by coordinating meter change out times with customers, preparing the sites for meter change outs, and enlisting contractor services as needed
- Maintains an inventory of water meter parts and supplies; scheduling vendor deliveries or retrieves parts from vendor locations, when necessary
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of one year of experience in the installation, removal, calibration, repair and testing of water meters and in the programing and troubleshooting of AMI equipment.
Supplemental Information
- Knowledge of principles and practices related to water meter installation, calibration, reading, maintenance, repair, and testing
- Knowledge of AMI systems, AMI meters and programming equipment
- Knowledge of standard safety processes, work gear and procedures
- Ability to analyze and organize data, and prepare reports
- Ability to operate personal computers, laptops and tablets and utilize common office software programs
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, with co-workers, the public, and elected and appointed officials
