Controller
Our client, a
Taft-Hartley
Multi-Employer Benefit Fund Office is seeking a Controller with 3+ years' experience in Multi-Employer Benefit Funds (Pension, Welfare, and Annuity).
CPA
preferred, along with experience in
Excel, SAGE, and MS Office . Individual will be responsible for managing all accounting functions including cash management, account reconciliations, financial analysis, internal auditing and control systems analysis, preparing quarterly financial statements, and reviewing audited financial statements and related information. Reports directly to the Fund Manager. Office Location: Long Island City, NY.
Schedule: on-site required, remote work potential, flexible work hours Position Responsibilities:
Balance and maintain accurate ledgers and trial balance
Match purchase orders with invoices
Coordinate bank deposits and report financial results on a regular basis to management
Monitor office expenses and tally/enter cash receipts
Pay vendor invoices and track bank account balances
Develop monthly financial statements, including cash flow, profit and loss statements and balance sheets
Prepare quarterly and monthly tax returns, along with payroll, operating and business taxes
Accounts payable and accounts receivable
Account reconciliation and analysis
Process payroll, payroll taxes and related reporting
Financial reporting and general ledger maintenance
Will perform special analysis and projects
Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or similar
Masters/CPA a plus
Taft-Hartley experience
3+ years accounting experience, experience with labor unions preferred
Must be proficient in QuickBooks, Sage 100, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Must be able to trouble shoot financial reporting systems and issues
Must be detail oriented, proactive, a self-starter with strong analytical skills and ability to multitask, work with other staff and professionals as well as work independently
