As the inaugural Chair, you will set a visionary course for the department, aligning it with the broader goals of the School and the university. Your responsibilities will include managing department budgets and resources, fostering external partnerships, and enhancing the academic reputation of our programs. Key duties include overseeing curriculum development, mentoring faculty members, supporting student affairs, and engaging in teaching within your area of expertise. A successful applicant will possess an MFA or PhD in a relevant discipline, at least 5 years of teaching experience at the university level, and a robust research agenda. You will play a vital role in shaping a vibrant academic and creative atmosphere, ensuring respect, professionalism, and inclusivity among faculty, staff, and students. We seek candidates with a solid background in the performing arts, either in theatre or dance, and a track record of effective academic administration and leadership. Strong collaborative skills and excellent communication are essential, as is the ability to work effectively with a diverse community. This position will have a 1/1 teaching load and requires active engagement with students and a commitment to modeling scholarship within the department.
