ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The Town of Yarmouth is searching for a professional truck driver to join our Highway team!
Working under the direct supervision of the Highway Supervisor, the Heavy Truck Driver II operates a variety of heavy trucks and hand and power tools, mows grass/trims shrubs/rakes/seeds, installs and repairs drainage, completes brushing assignments, performs minor maintenance on equipment, and plows roads and sidewalks using heavy trucks and shovels. Performs manual labor in the construction and maintenance of roads and sidewalks, replaces and repairs sign poles. Picks up litter and deceased animals from roadways, and performs other duties as assigned.
RECOMMENDED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalency plus one year experience in light equipment operation and truck driving or any equivalent combination of education and experience. CDL Class B License with air brake endorsement and a 1D Hoisting License is required.
Physical requirements include the ability to perform heavy manual labor under varying weather conditions for long periods of time. Ability to drive heavy trucks for long periods of time during all types of weather conditions. Required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk and hear. Frequently lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds independently. Must be able to conduct visual inspections while in the field.
