Job Summary :
The Principal Enterprise Architect will serve as a Master Planner with a big-picture mindset, responsible for turning business and IT architecture visions into reality. This role requires developing deep knowledge of business processes, IT infrastructure, and application portfolios while driving technology investments, building reusable architecture frameworks, and supporting enterprise modernization strategies. The position will collaborate extensively across business and IT teams, coaching and enabling execution teams while ensuring alignment with organizational strategy.
Key Responsibilities :
Collaborate with executive and senior leadership to define system operations and grid modernization strategy.
Partner with business stakeholders to create technology roadmaps for ADMS, DERMS, and Emergency Preparedness & Response portfolios.
Assess current IT environments for operational technology, smart grid, and microgrid; define future-state architectures.
Lead vendor assessments, RFP processes, and application rationalization efforts.
Support IT strategic planning, modernization initiatives, and portfolio development.
Align enterprise strategies across groups, managing redundancies and interdependencies.
Collaborate with domain enterprise architects to ensure consistency in design patterns, standards, and roadmaps.
Provide enterprise-level architecture guidance during solution design and project delivery.
Stay current with industry innovations such as AI, edge computing, and emerging operational technologies.
Mentor and coach implementation teams, delivering reusable architecture patterns, decision frameworks, and best practices.
Required Experience :
Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum years of enterprise architecture experience.
Proven experience in the utilities or utilities-related space.
Nice-to-Have Experience :
Masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or related field.
Enterprise or solution architecture experience in Grid Modernization, ADMS, DERMS, Operations Technology (OT), or Asset / Work Management.
Experience with business capability mapping, data architecture, and business process reengineering.
Project implementation experience in large-scale IT / OT environments.
Relevant architecture certifications (e.g., TOGAF).
Required Skills :

Analytical mindset with the ability to solve complex issues.
Knowledge of enterprise and solution architecture frameworks.
Preferred Skills :
Vendor management and RFP support.
Familiarity with business and data architecture modeling.
