Legal Marketing and Business Development Manager
Base pay range: $125,000.00/yr - $150,000.00/yr This position is for our Legal client and is based in New York, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles. The role focuses on generating, implementing, and supporting a broad range of firm and attorney marketing and business development activities across three offices. The successful candidate will report to the Director of Business Development and Marketing and contribute to an inclusive workplace where professionals from diverse backgrounds feel valued and empowered. Responsibilities: Work closely with the Director of Business Development and Marketing to advance a proactive marketing and business development program that supports strategic objectives and aligns with firm goals. Support the tracking and execution of individual business development plans, ensuring key milestones are defined and aligned with the firms strategic goals. Partner with the Director to develop customized, compelling pitch materials and RFP responses tailored to specific client opportunities. Develop and maintain marketing collateral, website content, practice descriptions, attorney bios, and other client-facing materials; ensure content is regularly reviewed and updated. Conduct strategic research on prospective clients, market trends, competitors, and practice developments to generate actionable insights and support targeted efforts. Maintain and monitor business development activity through the firms CRM platform, ensuring accurate data capture and reporting. Lead the preparation and submission of legal directories and industry awards, including Chambers, Legal 500, Benchmark Litigation, and other recognitions. Oversee department projects with deliverables and resource requirements; track progress and address roadblocks. Support lateral integration and onboarding to ensure a seamless transition and alignment with firm priorities. Plan and execute internal and external events, including invitation list creation, collateral development, attendee tracking, on-site management, and follow-up strategies. Identify, evaluate, and sponsor speaking engagements and opportunities that align with firm goals to enhance visibility. Other responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications: Education and Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of BD and marketing experience in a law firm environment, with litigation experience highly desirable. Bachelors degree required. J.D. or advanced degree a plus. Knowledge and Skills: Basic understanding of CRM software (hands-on experience with InterAction is a plus); familiarity with event planning; advanced MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, web editing, and email marketing software. Clear Communication and Attention to Detail: Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to build relationships with attorneys and professionals at all levels; high attention to detail. Ownership, Initiative, and Teamwork: Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively; strong customer-service orientation and brand advocacy. Organization and Project Management: Able to balance tasks of varying urgency and complexity; capable of meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility: Willing to work after hours and vary responsibilities; collaborative, team-focused approach. Confidentiality: Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Mission Orientation: Enthusiastic about civil rights and public interest law and able to connect work to purpose.
The successful candidate will be based in the New York area or willing to relocate and will be available to work 9:00 a.m. 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This is a hybrid position. Compensation: The expected base salary ranges from $125,000 to $150,000 and is dependent on experience.
