This position is considered a hybrid position out of our Exton, PA office or our Lake Mary, Florida office. Hybrid is 2x-3x weekly in office. Responsibilities
Key individual contributor able to work autonomously to support the design of new metrology instrument products. Support projects from concept to production in close coordination with related departments and vendors Serve as subject matter expert for product external design including industrial design, plastic molded part design and user interfaces Conduct feasibility studies of designs and concepts using engineering principles and FEA software Develop and coordinate with vendors to provide finished work that meets requirements Perform hands-on assembly, testing and troubleshooting of prototypes to ensure design requirements are met Analyze and refine high level requirements Develop assembly, calibration and compensation techniques Build BOMs for manufacturing and assembly Guide and assist operations with creation of assembly instructions Serve as a mentor to other mechanical engineers and designers in areas of expertise Required qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering A minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical/industrial engineering experience; preferences toward 10 years Mechanical design using SolidWorks or similar CAD package Surface modeling using SolidWorks or similar CAD package Design of injection molded parts Industrial design and evaluation of products for improved product user interaction (UI/UX) Drawing generation in accordance with ASME Y14.5M GD&T Design of machined, sheet metal and cast parts System error budgets and tolerance stack ups Finite element analysis (FEA) using SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS What FARO Can Offer You
