Overview

Senior Mechanical/Design Engineer at FARO Technologies. The role focuses on design and analysis of mechanical systems, equipment and packaging for FARO's metrology products. This position is hybrid, based in Exton, PA or Lake Mary, FL, with 2x-3x in-office per week. How you will make a difference @ FARO

Key individual contributor able to work autonomously to support the design of new metrology instrument products. Support projects from concept to production in close coordination with related departments and vendors. Serve as subject matter expert for product external design including industrial design, plastic molded part design and user interfaces. Conduct feasibility studies of designs and concepts using engineering principles and FEA software. Develop and coordinate with vendors to provide finished work that meets requirements. Perform hands-on assembly, testing and troubleshooting of prototypes to ensure design requirements are met. Analyze and refine high level requirements. Develop assembly, calibration and compensation techniques. Build BOMs for manufacturing and assembly. Guide and assist operations with creation of assembly instructions. Serve as a mentor to other mechanical engineers and designers in areas of expertise. What you need to have

A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering. A minimum of 5 years of relevant mechanical/industrial engineering experience; 10 years preferred. Mechanical design using SolidWorks or similar CAD package; surface modeling experience. Design of injection molded parts; experience with machined, sheet metal and cast parts. Industrial design and evaluation of products for improved UI/UX. Drawing generation in accordance with ASME Y14.5M GD&T. System error budgets and tolerance stack-ups; FEA using SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS. What FARO Can Offer You
