About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Legal for Transactions to oversee and manage all legal aspects of real estate transactions. The successful candidate will be responsible for negotiating, drafting, and advising on a wide range of legal documents, including purchase and sale agreements, loan documents, joint venture agreements, and commercial leases. This role involves supporting the closing process for various real estate transactions and interacting with a diverse set of stakeholders, from property operations and corporate staff to government authorities and outside counsel. The VP of Legal will also be a primary point of contact for real estate and transactional legal issues, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and working to mitigate legal risks.

Applicants must have a Juris Doctorate degree, be admitted to the Tennessee Bar Association, and have 10 to 15 years' of commercial real estate and transactional or contractual experience. Supervisory management experience is required, with a preference for candidates who have a background in commercial real estate transactions and contracts, particularly in the multifamily industry. The role demands a professional with critical thinking, problem-solving, and executive presence, capable of managing complex legal challenges and influencing at all levels of the organization. The VP of Legal will be expected to travel as needed and should be adept at working both independently and as part of a team.
