Role Overview
My client is seeking a passionate Database Administrator (DBA) for their Cleveland office. This is an exciting, foundational role where the selected candidate will shape best practices, modernize legacy systems, and build the data foundation that supports future growth in cloud, AI, and next-generation platforms.
The DBA will blend hands-on technical expertise with big-picture strategy. From optimizing performance and guiding data architecture to supporting compliance and cloud migrations, this role is ideal for someone who wants variety, responsibility, and the freedom to innovate.
What You'll Do
Tune and optimize queries to improve performance and scalability Manage backups, restores, high availability, and disaster recovery strategies Ensure database security, auditing, and compliance with industry regulations Modernize legacy schemas, stored procedures, and ETL scripts Partner with development teams to improve database design and efficiency Architect modern data solutions including Data Lakes, Warehouses, and pipelines Work with AWS services such as RDS, Glue, Athena, S3, and DMS for scalable solutions Leverage automation and monitoring tools to streamline operations and improve reliability Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders What We're Looking For
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience 7+ years of experience as a DBA in SQL Server environments Proven ability in performance tuning, query optimization, and schema design Hands-on expertise with AWS RDS, DMS, Glue, Athena, and S3 Strong knowledge of HA/DR, backups, encryption, and compliance frameworks Experience modernizing legacy systems and data structures Bonus Points If You Have:
Background in payments, financial services, or other regulated industries Familiarity with Redshift, Snowflake, or Databricks Experience with Docker or Kubernetes for data workloads AWS or SQL Server certifications Experience working with file transmissions on Linux Why You'll Love This Opportunity
