Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Procurement and Insurance, the Procurement Specialist manages the university's purchase card (p-card) program, works closely with faculty and staff to streamline the procurement process for small purchases, and assists the Purchasing Office in procuring goods, services and technology.
Oversees day-to-day operations of the p-card program, including approving requests for new cards, setting spending limits, monitoring individual usage and adjusting transaction limits. Conducts regular program audits and generates reports to monitor the activity and usage of cardholders and managers; immediately notifies management of instances of misuse or fraud. Responds to p-card inquiries and assists with problem resolution. Assists with the bidding process. Reviews and processes purchase orders. Serves as the Quarterly Reporting Coordinator. Assist in vendor setup and dispute resolution. Provides p-card procurement training to faculty and staff. Minimum and Additional Requirements
High school diploma and five years of professional experience directly related to procurement. An equivalent combination of education and training may be considered. Knowledge of the rules, regulations and provisions of the South Carolina Consolidated Procurement Code as they relate to P-cards or the ability to quickly learn and apply them. Effective organizational and oral and written communication skills. Sufficient technical ability to perform job duties at a high level, including proficiency with Microsoft Office software. Ability and willingness to provide exceptional customer service. Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, vendors and the general public.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and one year of procurement experience.

Travel/Overtime Requirements:
Occasional overtime may be required to meet deadlines.
Annual Salary/Hiring Range:
$41,205; actual salary depends on qualifications.
