As the

Quality Control Operations Manager

you will be responsible for leading and executing all quality control initiatives within the distribution center to ensure accuracy, compliance, and service excellence. This role oversees product quality, inventory integrity, and outbound order accuracy while implementing continuous improvement strategies to support WHSmith's retail customer expectations and operational performance. The Manager will partner with operations, inventory, transportation, and supply chain leadership to ensure best-in-class quality standards across the North America network.

Monday - Friday, Weekends as needed, 40 - 50 hours per week

Job Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and manage quality control policies, procedures, and performance standards across all WHSmith NA distribution processes. Monitor inbound, storage, picking, packing, and outbound processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with WHSmith's quality standards and regulatory requirements. Oversee inspection of returned goods, vendor compliance issues, and defective merchandise resolution. Lead a team of quality control supervisors, auditors, and associates; provide training, coaching, and career development. Collaborate with distribution leadership to implement corrective actions and preventive measures. Establish and track KPIs such as inventory accuracy, order accuracy, damages, shrink, and compliance scores. Provide regular reporting and analysis to senior WHSmith North America leadership. Lead root cause analysis and corrective action planning for quality-related failures. Partner with operations, inventory control, and supply chain teams to identify process improvements that reduce errors and increase efficiency. Implement lean methodologies, process audits, and Six Sigma tools where applicable. Ensure adherence to WHSmith quality standards, customer requirements, and applicable industry regulations. Job Requirements

Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Operations Management, Business, or related field (preferred). 5+ years of experience in quality control, distribution and/or warehouse operations with quality control/accuracy oversight, or inventory management within retail distribution. Strong leadership and people management skills with a proven record of team development. Knowledge of retail compliance requirements, inventory control systems, and distribution processes. Proficiency in WMS, ERP, and data analysis tools. Lean/Six Sigma certification a plus. Strong problem-solving, communication, and decision-making skills. Promote and maintain a safe working environment, enforcing safety policies and procedures. Support implementation of new systems and automation tools (e.g., WMS enhancements, labor management systems). Generate dashboards and reports to track project impact and supply chain performance.
