Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented
Production Planner
to join our team in the aerospace and defense manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating
job travelers
that outline all necessary steps, processes, and documentation required to fabricate or manufacture parts to exact customer specifications. This role is critical in ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the production workflow.
Key Responsibilities: Develop comprehensive
job travelers
that include step-by-step fabrication/manufacturing processes based on customer-supplied drawings and parts lists. Plans sequence of fabrication, assembly, installation, and other manufacturing operations. Analyzes and interprets
drawings, bills of material (BOMS) work scopes, contracts, process specifications , etc., to determine the most efficient path of manufacture while providing clear instruction for the operators. Identify and sequence the necessary
production steps , including machining, heat treating, coating, assembly, inspection, and any special processing requirements. Prepares list of required materials, tools, and equipment. Raise purchase requisitions for material shortages, and communication to production for timing and purchasing needs if needed. Collaborate with
engineering, quality, procurement, and shop floor personnel
to ensure job travelers are complete, accurate, and executable. Revise planning documents as needed to accommodate
engineering changes, customer updates, or production constraints . Ensure all planning documentation complies with
customer requirements, industry standards, and internal quality systems . Maintain awareness of and comply with
ITAR regulations
and other relevant industry regulations. Work under
tight deadlines
and adapt quickly to shifting priorities driven by
customer and production demands . Required Qualifications:
U.S.
Citizenship or Permanent Residency
required (per ITAR regulations). Proven experience in
production planning
within the
aerospace and/or defense industry . Proficiency in
reading and interpreting technical drawings, blueprints, parts lists, and manufacturing documentation . Strong knowledge of
manufacturing processes
such as machining, welding, forming, coating, heat treating, assembly, and inspection. Familiarity with
AS9100, ISO 9001, and ITAR compliance
requirements. Excellent
organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills . Ability to
work independently
and as part of a cross-functional team. Comfortable working under
pressure
and adjusting plans based on changing priorities and customer timelines. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with
ERP/MRP systems
and planning software. Prior experience creating
job travelers or manufacturing routers
in a regulated manufacturing environment. Technical degree or certification in
manufacturing, engineering, or a related field , or at least 5-10 years manufacturing experience. AS9100 Quality and Manufacturing planning Aerospace Manufacturing Inspection Tools Manufacturing Tooling Special Processing Competencies:
