Job Description Benefits/Perks Flexible Scheduling Competitive Compensation Career Advancement Opportunities Job Summary Troubleshoots electrical equipment and circuits using appropriate test equipment to detect and perform required maintenance, repairs, or replacements. Performs maintenance and repairs of generators, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, electrical motors, distribution panels, alarm and lighting circuits. Conducts insulation resistance measurements of electrical cables to assess condition and executes repairs or replacements as needed. Supervises and participates in the installation and/or modification of electrical systems aboard ships. Maintains inventories of electrical spare parts and requisitions replacements as necessary. Keeps detailed maintenance histories, noting dates and the scope of repairs and modifications. Responsibilities Repair or replace wiring, equipment, or fixtures using hand tools or power tools. Examine electrical systems and circuits using testing devices like ohmmeters, voltmeters, or oscilloscopes to ensure safety and compatibility. Utilize various tools and equipment, including power construction tools, measuring devices, and testing instruments. Work from ladders, scaffolds, or roofs to install, maintain, or repair electrical wiring, equipment, or fixtures. Diagnose faults in systems, apparatus, or components, identifying causes of breakdowns and implementing corrective actions. Inspect electrical systems and components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustments or repairs, ensuring compliance with codes. Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment such as motors. Construct and fabricate components using hand tools and specifications. Train or supervise other employees in installing, maintaining, or repairing electrical systems. Install, maintain, repair, and replace marine electrical (AC/DC) and electronic systems on powerboats and sailboats. Ability to work in various conditions, including bending, twisting, and standing, to perform duties effectively. Experience with systems such as HVAC ducting, piping, cabling (copper and fiber), equipment racks, lockers, furniture, fiddle boards, connection boxes, power panels, lighting, antennas/radomes, connectors, cable tags, and wire markers is preferred but not essential. Qualifications Previous experience as a Marine Electrician. Strong understanding of mathematical concepts and measurements. Professional appearance and courteous personality. #J-18808-Ljbffr
