Position Summary

The Aviation Compliance Coordinator supports the Aviation Department in maintaining operational compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations, as well as City programs and services. Coordinate and assist with activities related to facility adherence to codes and regulations related to Americans with Disability Act (ADA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and other regulatory agencies related to Aviation operations. Monitor and assist in ensuring the department meets requirements set by the relevant federal agencies for the airports.

Education and experience directly related to the minimum requirements below may be interchangeable on a year-for-year basis.

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Sociology, Social Services, or a related field;

and

Five (5) years of experience in ADA compliance, accommodation evaluations, or design and construction.

To include two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Experience in municipal program compliance is preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.

Possession of a City Operator's Permit (COP) within 6 months from date of hire.

Must complete ADA Coordinator Training Certificate within six (6) months of hire.

Must successfully pass FBI criminal history background check including fingerprinting.

Must be able to successfully qualify for and maintain a Sunport Access Control Card as determined by the criteria set forth by the policies and guidelines of the Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).

Successful completion of a security background check conducted by U.S. Customs & Border Protection, if applicable. Preferred Knowledge

ADA laws, requirements and/or ADA compliance Principles and practices of Occupational Safety and Health Administration Administrative organization principles Environmental Justice Principles and practices of compliance record keeping Methods and techniques of conflict resolution and mediation Principles and procedures of record keeping, report preparation, and business letter writing Presentation of ideas and concepts in both oral and written formats.
