Qualifications include:
  • Professional Educator License (PEL), with a Social Worker Endorsement.
  • A Master's degree in social work from an accredited university, with a specialization in school social work.
  • LCSW is preferred.
  • Knowledgeable about social/emotional supports.
  • Flexible, excellent interpersonal communication skills, a positive attitude, to promote the social/emotional well-being of the students.
Position Responsibilities:
  • Providing high quality direct social work services to students according to students' IEPs, 504 plans or other intervention plans.
  • Conducting assessments (such as formal and informal assessment of adaptive behavior, social functioning, family history, emotional health, and cultural influences), analyzing results, and writing reports to determine strengths and concerns for social/emotional needs.
  • Ensuring evaluations, treatment plans and service delivery are aligned with school district policies as well as state and federal guidelines.
  • Participating in the Problem Solving Process through the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
  • Assisting and guiding teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified social/emotional concerns.
  • Consulting with teaching teams to develop and implement of curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies and accommodations.
  • Ensuring students' skills are generalized across settings by collaborating with teaching teams and other related service providers.
  • Completing treatment notes and progress reports in timely manner in accordance to school policy.
  • Documenting all aspects of work with students according to school and state guidelines.
  • Maintaining appropriate, confidential, records and provide timely reports of progress, consistent with legal mandates and district policy.
  • Keeping abreast of best practices in social work and implementing best practices in compliance with district policy, Federal Laws, and State Regulations.
  • Participating in the collaborative process with social work colleagues through participation in regularly scheduled social work meetings.
  • Engaging parents and families in their student's learning.
  • Providing information regarding community resources to parents and families.
  • Contributing productively to the school as a whole.
  • Other duties as assigned.
