What you’ll be doing:
As a Delivery Driver, you will transport products safely and deliver office supplies on your assigned route to customers. At times, depending on volume, you will load your truck. Safety is our utmost priority so, in this role, we will look to you to ensure safe work practices and embrace and foster our safety culture. You will organize and load product for delivery utilizing the manifest assuring the most efficient delivery route and schedule. You will be a problem solver for our customers; providing customer support, accepting product returns and will be empowered to make your customers\' day. You’re our brand on wheels! You will be essential to the success of Staples Supply Chain as we deliver to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Transport products safely and deliver office supplies on your assigned route to customers.
- Load your truck when volume requires it.
- Ensure safe work practices and foster our safety culture.
- Organize and load product for delivery using the manifest to optimize route and schedule.
- Provide customer support, handle product returns, and empower the customer experience on delivery day.
- Represent Staples as the brand on wheels.
- Contribute to the success of Staples Supply Chain through reliable delivery service.
What you bring to the table
- An ability to be a safe and courteous driver who can navigate a map in various weather and road conditions.
- An ability to make sound decisions related to driving, parking, safety, and customer interactions.
- An inclusive approach to colleagues and customers to foster collaboration and resolve issues.
- An ability to use technology including GPS and mobile Proof of Delivery (POD) devices.
- An ability and willingness to maintain vehicle cleanliness, perform pre-trip inspections, and report maintenance concerns.
What’s needed – Basic Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver’s license with a safe driving history acceptable to the company and remain eligible to drive a commercial motor vehicle under applicable laws and regulations.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen (No THC) to the extent legally permissible.
- Must obtain a 6-month DOT medical card specific to the role.
- Basic English language skills (verbal and written).
- Full-Time associates must be able to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift; overtime may be required based on business need.
- Ability to lift up to 70lbs, push/pull items weighing up to 400lbs with assistance of hand carts, and occasionally maneuver up to 130 lbs.
- Must wear safety composite shoes.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 1 year of truck driving experience (operating a 16ft or longer straight truck) or equivalent driving experience
- High volume package delivery experience
