Overview We’re looking for a Technical Product Manager (TPM) to join our client’s IT Organization. This is a new role designed to bridge the gap across technology teams, stakeholders and business units - balancing technical requirements, strategic objectives, and resources. As a TPM, you’ll bring together strong cross-functional leadership skills and a passion for delivering high-impact technical initiatives at SLM.
What You’ll Do
Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of large-scale technical capabilities from scoping and requirements gathering through on-time delivery and post-launch assessment.
Develop and manage comprehensive roadmaps that align technical initiatives with organizational goals, coordinate dependencies between multiple projects and teams, and proactively identify and mitigate technical risks.
Serve as a technical liaison among technology teams, stakeholders, product owners, and executives to achieve program objectives; ensure a shared understanding of architecture, dependencies, and design decisions.
Provide transparent updates and manage expectations at all levels, including senior management and external partners.
Foster continuous improvement by analyzing outcomes, identifying lessons learned, and driving improvements in processes, communication, and technical delivery for future initiatives.
Establish and maintain realistic schedules, track key milestones, and ensure on-time delivery of critical components.
Identify technical risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on program deliverables and timelines.
Influence stakeholders, facilitate critical conversations, and manage competing priorities with a solutions-focused and strategic mindset.
Provide thought leadership and problem-solving frameworks to help structure and guide strategic discussions.
What You Have Minimum education, skills and experience required.
5+ years’ experience in a technical program/project/product management or leadership role driving cross-functional and/or large-scale projects
Strong consultative, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex technical projects and drive them to successful completion
Strong understanding of technical ecosystems including system architecture, software development lifecycles, and integration strategies
Strong understanding of methodologies and ability to tailor approaches based on project requirements
Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment and execution on key initiatives
Proven ability to manage projects independently, demonstrating initiative and structured problem-solving
Ability to navigate ambiguity and adapt to shifting business priorities in a fast-paced environment
A strong sense of ownership and accountability, with the ability to execute complex projects with confidence and precision
Preferred education, skills and experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field, or equivalent related experience
Experience leading large transformation initiatives, such as rapid scaling or legacy architecture modernizations
