Director of Development (Fisher College of Business, Multiple Vacancies)

Role overview: The Director of Development will understand the mission, needs and value proposition of The Ohio State University and the Fisher College of Business (FCOB) and build relationships with prospective donors to increase philanthropic support. The role manages a portfolio of prospective donors to pursue major gifts of $100,000 and above, preparing strategic solicitations and ensuring donor engagement and gift outcomes.

Duties And Responsibilities

Identify, qualify, and cultivate a portfolio of prospective major gift donors; build donor values, capacity, interests and passions; convert prospects to donors; develop and implement strategic gift solicitations; steward donors to advance relationships.

Travel frequently (approximately one or two overnight trips per month), with regular in-state travel and occasional evening/weekend work.

Hire, train, and develop assigned staff (if applicable) and provide daily management.

Collaborate with colleagues across Advancement and the university to achieve fundraising goals; contribute to an inclusive culture and uphold core competencies and shared university values.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.

Four (4) years of relevant experience with at least two (2) years of professional fundraising experience and two (2) years of related experience in marketing, sales, public relations, financial advisement, account management or related field with emphasis on donor cultivation, solicitation and relationship cultivation of individuals/businesses.

Desired Qualifications

At least four (4) years of professional fundraising experience raising high-level philanthropic gifts (five figures and above preferred).

Experience in higher education or hospital/health care fundraising environments.

Experience in donor relations and stewardship, donor communications and/or alumni relations.

Compensation and Additional Information The budget for this position is up to $77,740, with offers based on internal equity and qualifications. This position is full-time, regular, located at Fisher Hall (0249), with 40 scheduled hours per week. Shift: First Shift. Standby position per University policy; background check and possibly drug screen or physical may be required post-offer.
