The Assistant Corporate Controller will be deeply involved with all areas of operational accounting for this commercial-stage bio-pharma company. This person will fully own the g/l and have responsibility for developing scalable processes as the company continues to grow. Areas of responsibility include m/e close and all operational accounting. This is a hands-on role and perfect for someone with a vision for helping build a world-class accounting department. This role reports to a strong VP Corporate Controller with a great history of mentorship. THIS IS 4 DAYS/WEEK IN OFFICE IN PALO ALTO. Key Responsibilities: Partner with the VP Controller to lead the accounting control function and optimize financial results. Oversee month-end and quarter-end close and all operational accounting functions. Support the SEC group as necessary. Work on potential acquisitions, including financial due diligence, purchase accounting, disclosure and audit requirements and integration of acquisitions. Support accounting department in ensuring financial data is accurate and timely and provide hands-on support for corporate month-end close process and consolidations for all legal entities. Coordinate and support external audits, ensuring timely and accurate responses to audit inquiries. Work closely with cross-functional teams (including HR, Treasury, and Tax) to provide accounting guidance, financial insights and support strategic initiatives. Support the CFO on key projects, analysis, and ad hoc requests. Qualifications: 10-12+ years relevant experience, including at least five years public accounting experience CPA with in-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, taxation and audit procedures. Strong experience leading month-end close, ideally with Netsuite experience Sound business judgment and strategic thinking with the ability to proactively identify needs, provide solutions and anticipate the impact of decisions. Ability to lead, manage and develop teams across multiple geographies. Proven track record of driving efficiency, improving processes and managing cross-functional teams. Understanding of biotech/pharma revenue principles helpful Ability to align financial management with company’s long-term strategic goals; including budgeting, forecasting and managing risk to drive profitability. Strong ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends and translate insights into actionable strategies. High level of precision in financial reporting and data accuracy, ensuring consistency and reliability in global financial statements. Effective communication skills, adept at liaising with senior executives, external auditors and business leaders Ability to manage change in a rapidly evolving financial landscape, including mergers and acquisitions. A strong sense of ethics, ensuring compliance with all regulations and the ethical handling of financial data across all jurisdictions Seniority level
