What you’ll do

Coordinate efforts of roll-out and implementation of IDB Lab scouting and screening (process, Call for Proposals) in close support and coordination with the leading Investment Officers and other internal teams, including deck analysis, meetings with prospects, and evaluation of investment opportunities.

Assist the LAB/VCI team in investment due diligence analysis, project documents preparation, and other approval processes, in close coordination with Legal, Institutional Integrity, Development Effectiveness, Environmental and Social teams, among others.

Support the supervision of the portfolio of operations and assist in portfolio management of projects under execution in IDB Lab’s fund investments portfolio.

Prepare periodic reports and perform detailed analysis of proposals received through the Call for Proposals, identifying findings and trends on GP profile, target markets, sectors and stages, fund size vs. strategy, gender and diversity approach, fund terms & governance, and business/impact KPIs.

Support knowledge sharing and development activities, such as organizing IDB Lab’s annual Fund Managers Meeting, producing thematic studies, portfolio evaluation, and updating contact databases.

Support the Chief Investment Officer and Investment Officers in creating strategic guidelines and documents for the fund investment strategy.

What you’ll need

Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (in Finance, Business, or related field). CFA will be highly valued.

Experience:

At least 2 years of experience in investments, preferably venture capital, with a relevant transactional track record (preparation of Investment Memoranda, presentation to Investment Committees, terms and conditions negotiations). Experience in Latin America and the Caribbean is highly valued.

Work experience in top-tier venture capital and private equity funds, startups, or M&A with LAC exposure is a strong plus.

Languages: Proficiency in English and Spanish (oral and written) is required; knowledge of Portuguese and/or French is a plus.

Requirements

Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of the IDB’s 48 member countries. Relocation and visa assistance may be available for you and eligible dependents.

Consanguinity: You have no family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

Type of contract and duration: International consultant, Full-Time, 12 months (up to 36 months).
