Investment Banking Associate - Industrials M&A
Blacklock are partnered with a top-tier global investment bank that is seeking a driven and experienced Investment Banking Associate to join its Industrials M&A team, based in Chicago. This is a unique opportunity to join a leading Industrials coverage platform, advising on high-profile transactions across sectors such as manufacturing, aerospace & defense, building products, transportation & logistics, and industrial technology.
Responsibilities
Execute M&A and strategic advisory transactions within the broader Industrials sector
Build and maintain detailed financial models and conduct valuation analyses, including DCF, LBO, precedent transactions, and trading comps
Prepare client-facing materials such as pitch books, CIMs, management presentations, and sector deep dives
Perform market and company-level research to support live deals and business development initiatives
Coordinate due diligence processes and collaborate with internal teams, clients, and third-party advisors
Support and mentor junior team members, while working closely with VPs and MDs on transaction strategy and execution
Qualifications
2–4 years of experience in investment banking or a comparable role with significant transaction exposure; prior experience in Industrials is a plus
Strong understanding of M&A deal processes, financial modeling, and valuation techniques
Demonstrated interest in the Industrials sector with awareness of current trends and strategic dynamics
Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint; experience with CapIQ, Bloomberg, and PitchBook preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field from a top-tier institution; MBA or relevant postgraduate experience is advantageous
