Overview
Manager of Diversity & Inclusion role at Arnold & Porter. The Manager of Diversity & Inclusion has a firmwide presence, reports to the Director of Diversity & Inclusion, and leads implementation of key diversity and inclusion initiatives for the firm. This role serves as a liaison and subject matter expert to departments including Human Resources, Legal Talent Management, Innovation and Practice Management, Marketing & Business Development, and Well-Being. Supervises the D&I Assistant and D&I Specialist, providing administrative oversight and professional development guidance. Office location: New York or Washington, DC. Responsibilities
Develop and implement strategic retention and advancement initiatives promoting inclusive access to development and career growth opportunities for all personnel. Supervise, mentor, coach, and develop the D&I Assistant and D&I Specialist, with administrative responsibility for ensuring effective execution of their roles in support of the full D&I function and firm strategies. Design and execute diverse and rigorous learning programs to foster inclusion. Collaborate with Legal Talent and HR to integrate inclusion principles into onboarding, evaluations, promotions, and career development systems. Liaise with Practice Innovation and Management and other administrative departments to develop customized inclusion action plans. Oversee inclusive branding and communications in collaboration with Marketing & Business Development; elevate internal and external storytelling. Lead and collaborate on efforts to position the firm as a recognized D&I thought and innovation leader through award submissions, industry submissions, and partnerships. Collaborate with the Director and D&I Data Analyst to build and maintain dashboards and reporting systems. Contribute to client-facing initiatives, including RFPs and co-branded inclusion efforts. Stay informed on leading practices in workplace inclusion, talent development, behavioral science, and industry trends to serve as an internal D&I subject matter expert. Promote the organizational values of diversity and inclusion and influence across all levels of the firm. Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or JD preferred. Minimum of three (3) years managerial experience with at least three (3) years in a D&I role within a law firm, professional services, or corporate environment. Proven experience developing and implementing innovative D&I programs and events with measurable outcomes. High proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office Suite; data analysis, survey platforms, project management, and collaborative tools (e.g., Power BI, Smartsheet, Culture Amp, Qualtrics) preferred. VI Desktop proficiency preferred. Knowledge and understanding of the diversity and inclusion industry; strong facilitation, interpersonal, and presentation skills; highly developed project management skills. Ability to lead while collaborating with diverse perspectives; discretion with confidential information; strategic financial/budgetary awareness. Strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans; influence and engage stakeholders at all levels; excellent judgment and professionalism. Ability to define goals and follow through to achieve results; strong time management and prioritization; excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Comfort with operating in a dynamic, complex, and matrixed environment with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines; exceptional client service (internal and external). Flexibility to work extended hours as necessary. Compensation and Benefits
The anticipated base salary for this position is $120,000 to $175,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on factors including qualifications, experience, education, certifications, and location. The firm may provide a discretionary bonus annually.
