Our client is seeking an experienced Engineer Technologist Principal to support its Naval weapon systems production team in Louisville, KY. This is a high-impact role for someone ready to lead innovation in machining processes, challenge current operations, and drive improvements across the manufacturing value stream.
The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, hands-on problem-solving, and strategic process enhancements to ensure production efficiency, cost control, and high-quality delivery to customers. This position is well-suited for an individual with a deep background in machining operations, tool design, and manufacturing process optimization.
Provide strategic technical direction on complex machining projects, influencing decisions and aligning with business goals Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, quality, and production to ensure seamless integration of machining processes Develop and optimize machining processes and create tooling/fixtures as required Identify and resolve technical challenges in machining operations, equipment performance, and product quality Implement and maintain quality control practices throughout the machining lifecycle, including monitoring and final inspection Maintain detailed documentation and analysis for process improvements and historical reference
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical discipline (engineering or technology) Strong proficiency with Siemens NX software for machining design and programming In-depth knowledge of machining equipment, tooling, materials, and advanced manufacturing techniques Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders Experience applying quality control standards and inspection protocols Project planning and execution skills, with a focus on timely and high-quality delivery Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Outlook, Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint)
Preferred Qualifications:
7+ years of experience in a machining or manufacturing environment Background in defense contracting Proficiency programming complex 3, 4, and 5-axis mills, as well as multi-axis vertical and horizontal lathes Experience leading the creation of ROMs, BOEs, and quoting efforts Familiarity with programming multiple head configurations PMP certification or formal program/project management training Strong leadership, interpersonal, and time management skills
