Principal Manufacturing/Production Engineer (On-site)

Our client, a leader in the defense manufacturing sector, is seeking an experienced Engineer Technologist – Senior Principal to support advanced naval weapon systems in Louisville, Kentucky. This role offers an opportunity to drive innovation in machining and production processes while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, cost-effective solutions.

Provide technical leadership and strategic direction on complex machining and manufacturing projects Develop new machining processes and improve existing ones, including tooling and fixture design Work closely with design, quality, and production teams to ensure smooth integration of machining operations Troubleshoot technical issues related to equipment, product quality, and production performance Mentor engineers and technicians and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement Create and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for processes and analysis Identify opportunities for equipment upgrades and manage capital investment implementation Ensure technical compliance with company policies, industry standards, and customer requirements
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing technology, or a related technical field Strong expertise in machining processes, tooling, materials, and equipment Proficient in Siemens NX for design and CNC programming Strong project management capabilities and the ability to meet deadlines and quality standards Familiarity with quality control procedures and inspection standards Experience in planning and scheduling production timelines Skilled in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Project) Experience with capital project planning and factory or equipment setup
Preferred Qualifications:
10+ years in a machining and manufacturing environment Experience in the defense industry or government contracting Ability to program complex 3-, 4-, and 5-axis mills and multi-axis vertical/horizontal lathes Experience developing or editing CNC post-processors Background in quoting, creating ROMs, and BOEs PMP certification or experience managing technical programs or projects Familiarity with multi-head CNC machine configurations
