Kforce has a client in San Antonio, TX that is seeking a Java Developer to support growing backlog and modernization efforts. The work is focused on cloud-based development and includes enhancing and migrating an application called FileMaker. The role is critical in helping move workloads out of Helix and into the cloud via Harness, while supporting ongoing development and pipeline work. Requirements
Core Skills: Java development, AWS (CodePipeline, EKS), HCL, Kubernetes, GitHub, CI/CD automation Application & Data Expertise: Experience with application modernization, particularly moving legacy workloads to the cloud; understanding of data pipelines and DBD Database Knowledge: PostgreSQL, SQL Scripting: Python and Bash scripting are strong pluses Tools: Harness, Bonsai, Jira Deployment: Familiarity with GitHub-based deployments, infrastructure as code, and cloud-native patterns Know Java 17 (a newer version of the Java programming language). Cloud experience, especially with AWS (Amazon Web Services) Familiar with Microservices (breaking down software into smaller, easier-to-manage pieces) Can work with APIs (which let software systems communicate with each other) Comfortable working in a team, using modern tools like GitHub, Jira, and CI/CD pipelines Bonus If The Person
Experience supporting or migrating book-of-record systems Has worked with older systems and moved them to the cloud (application modernization) Understands databases like PostgreSQL Can do some scripting in Python or Bash (this helps with automation) Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable.
