CDL Truck Driver

The CDL Truck Driver is responsible for safely operating a company tractor-trailer to transport materials and finished products between our facility and a gamma irradiation sterilization site. This role supports our manufacturing and assembly operations for pharmaceutical and biotech clients by ensuring timely, secure, and compliant delivery and pickup of goods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate a tractor-trailer to deliver and pick up products at the gamma irradiation sterilization facility and other designated locations.
  • Ensure all cargo is properly secured and complies with safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Collect and process necessary paperwork from delivery and pickup sites.
  • Communicate effectively with facility staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and requirements.
  • Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and report any issues.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and production teams to ensure timely loading and unloading of goods.
  • Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, mileage, and hours of service.
  • Adhere to all DOT, company, and industry safety standards.
  • Maintain tractors and trailers including inspections, upkeep, tires, and overall cleanliness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Desired Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 to 5 years of related driving experience preferred; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Experience operating tractor-trailers and knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Good communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, managers, and clients.
  • Basic computer/data entry skills for recordkeeping.
  • Ability to drive long distances (up to 23 hours from company site).
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech supply chain is a plus.
  • Ability to drive 10 to 14 hours from home site.
  • Must be able to work weekends.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 45 lbs.
  • Regular sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions (e.g., operating vehicle controls).
