Accountant

The Accountant position requires comprehensive knowledge of general accounting duties including GAAP reporting, accruals, monthly financial statements, inventory analysis, and budgets. In this role, you will prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records and financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards. You will support the Finance and Operations departments and drive process improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate monthly management report out to the parent company, including communicating deadlines, providing key financial data and highlights, and conducting overall review.
  • Assist in the development and evolution of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Analyze and interpret operating results, providing monthly variance commentary and reporting.
  • Perform analysis of inventory position and collaborate with Sales & Operations to determine excess or obsolete inventory and make recommendations for disposition.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Manage the A/R aging balance to ensure timely collection of receivables and resolve discrepancies with customers.
  • Develop and monitor accruals to facilitate the closing process.
  • Manage the financial aspects of special customer/vendor relationships and agreements, reporting the status to the manager timely.
  • Oversee treasury functions, including bank reconciliation, cash receipts, and other cash-related entries.
  • Manage all aspects of capital assets, collaborating with project managers on cash flow, timing, spend, and commitments.
  • Assist the manager in advising and directing work functions of the accounting department.
  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
  • Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
  • Correct or report any observed safety hazards and support safety policies and programs.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of accounting, general ledger, reconciliation, month-end processes, journal entries, reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and balance sheet management.
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Demonstrated technical expertise and ability to learn new skills quickly.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business preferred.
  • Two to five years of related accounting experience preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as Sage preferred.
  • Small company experience is a plus.
  • CPA preferred but not required.
  • Completion of INL Leadership Course.

Work Environment:

This is a fully on-site position with first shift hours and some flexibility with start time. The team comprises five people: CFO, Controller, Commercial Finance Manager, Financial Analyst, and Accountant. The work environment is business casual.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Permanent position based out of Largo, Florida.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $85000.00 - $105000.00/yr.
