Overview

The City of Sebastopol is NOW accepting applications for one full-time Accountant position. The Accountant performs a variety of complex and technical financial accounting and program support duties in the areas of utility billing, bank reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, purchasing, project accounting, fixed assets, and general ledger. Additionally, the Accountant may be assigned to perform all functions related to and serve as a City resource for one or more accounting-related programs administration. Salary: $7,196 - $8,747 monthly ($41.52 – $50.46 hourly). 4/10 work schedule Monday–Thursday. Plus an outstanding benefits package. Open until filled.

Responsibilities

• Perform financial accounting and program support duties in utility billing, bank reconciliation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, purchasing, project accounting, fixed assets, and general ledger.
• Serve as a City resource for accounting-related programs administration as assigned.
• Demonstrate cultural competency in working with diverse community members.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
• Three (3) or more years of professional accounting experience; municipal accounting experience preferred.
• Valid CPA license is highly desired but not required.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, handling daily transactions and tasks while providing guidance.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and establish positive relationships with employees, the public, and other stakeholders.
• Strong oral and written communication, professional demeanor, and sound judgment in customer service.
• Ability to interpret and process financial data and resolve technical accounting problems.
