Overview
Join to apply for the Electrician II (Region Maintenance Electrician) role with the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction (NCDAC) / Division of Engineering, Construction, and Maintenance (DECM). This position supports the Coastal Regional Maintenance Team, reports to the Raleigh Area Satellite Yard in Raleigh, NC, and will complete electrical preventative maintenance and like-in-kind Force Account electrical system replacements.
Responsibilities
- Perform electrical preventative maintenance and like-in-kind Force Account electrical system replacements.
- Read and interpret blueprints; install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.
- Work independently to complete assignments, and travel to regional Institutions as needed; participate in weekend or overnight travel as required.
Qualifications
- Journeyman level experience in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints; knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) standards.
- Experience reading and interpreting construction plans and specifications.
- High school diploma or GED and two years of experience in the construction or repair of secondary electrical systems; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- May require appropriate licensure by the governing board or commission.
Work Details
Full-time, 40 hours per week. Schedule is Monday – Friday; some weekend work and overnight travel may be required. Daily commute to the Raleigh Area Satellite Yard, Raleigh, NC; assist the Coastal Region Maintenance Team with electrical preventative maintenance at other regional Institutions.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $39,671.00 - $69,426.00 (effective January 1, 2025). State benefits include retirement, health insurance, vacation leave, sick leave, and paid holidays. Hiring salary will be based on relevant qualifications, internal equity, and budget considerations.
