Carbon Robotics

replaces the original noisy text and presents the role clearly. As a Sr. Electrical Engineer, Vehicle Power Distribution at Carbon Robotics, you will architect, design, test, and deliver the complete electrical power system for our diesel-electric tractor platform. You will design high-voltage distribution networks, battery management systems, and safety interlocks that integrate diesel generation with electric propulsion. From developing robust power architectures to validating performance in harsh farm environments, you will do whatever it takes to ensure our customers have reliable and safe products. What you’ll do

Design high-voltage (400-800V DC) and low-voltage (12/24V) power distribution architectures for diesel-electric platforms Develop power management strategies to optimize energy flow between diesel generator and vehicle loads Create electrical distribution systems including bus bars, contactors, fuses, and circuit protection for vehicle-scale power Implement safety systems including ground fault detection, isolation monitoring, and emergency shutdown circuits Integrate power distribution with vehicle CAN networks for real-time monitoring and diagnostics Develop wiring harnesses rated for high-current automotive applications with proper shielding and routing Validate power system performance under agricultural duty cycles including cold starts, peak loads, and regenerative events Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities for Success

8-15 years experience designing vehicle power distribution systems for EVs, hybrids, or heavy, high voltage equipment Expert proficiency in Capital Harness (or similar) for wiring design as well as analytical design optimization tools Expertise in high-voltage DC systems design, isolation requirements, and safety standards (ECE R100, ISO 6469) Proficiency in automotive wiring standards, connector systems, and harness design for high-power applications Deep understanding of circuit protection devices (contactors, fuses, solid state power controls/relays, pre-charge circuits, pyro-fuses) for vehicle applications Experience with thermal analysis and cooling system integration for power electronics Knowledge of agricultural/automotive equipment requirements including IP67 sealing, thermal environments, vibration resistance, and EMC compliance Familiarity with J1939 protocols and agricultural ISOBUS standards Understanding of manufacturing processes, component selection, and cost optimization Desired proficiency with Altium Designer (v18+) Willingness to travel ~10% of the time to support products in the production and field environments with a demonstrated ability to work with internal and external stakeholders/customers Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with focus on power systems, automotive engineering, or related field Base pay range

$150,000.00/yr - $195,000.00/yr Carbon Robotics follows equitable hiring practices. Flexibility in our hiring process allows hiring of talent at levels different from what are posted. The compensation range outlined is based on a target budgeted base salary. Individual base pay depends on relevant experience and skill, interview assessments, and responsibilities of role.
