Overview
General Engineer/Architect (Project Controls) role at Architect of the Capitol (AOC). The incumbent serves as a General Engineer/Architect responsible for identifying, developing and executing large Capitol Building construction programs and projects. Responsibilities

You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. For the GS-14 level, at least 52 weeks of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower GS-13 in the Federal service, in roles related to the General Engineer or Architect positions. Specific examples include: (1) Providing expert advice regarding planning, design, modernization, operation, and repair of building systems; (2) Exercising project controls (e.g., scheduling, resources, trades) in project execution; (3) Serving as a Contracting Officer Technical Representative (COTR) or equivalent on construction and consultant contracts; (4) Developing and executing actions to meet strategic and planning goals. For the Architect role, specialized experience includes: architectural design, technical reviews, quality control, project management from planning through construction; assessing compliance with construction standards, preparing construction drawings and specifications, and preparing scopes of work; applying knowledge of architectural, historic preservation, and engineering concepts; serving as Contracting Officer Representative (COR) or equivalent. The mission of the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) is to serve Congress and the Supreme Court, preserve America's Capitol and inspire memorable experiences. The AOC maintains 17.4 million square feet of buildings and more than 553 acres of land throughout Capitol Hill, and provides visitor experiences through the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center and the US Botanic Garden.
