AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain and collaborate with a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. We strive to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing capacity at the lowest possible cost, and we maintain an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers ownership to completion. Engineers at Amazon design resilient, cost-effective mechanical distribution systems and are responsible for achieving world-class uptime for customers. We justify and communicate technical decisions to Sr. Management and drive continuous improvements with our designs. As an engineer at Amazon you have the ability to drive change and define the systems our customers rely on. Amazon offers a fast-paced, dynamic work environment and opportunities for professional growth and continuous learning. We value a unique work environment and an exceptional opportunity for the right candidate. We are looking for engineers with hands-on mechanical design experience who can design a mechanical system, understand the critical equipment needs for a data center, and grasp the constructability of varying designs. As we grow, we are structuring our team to own more engineering in house. Engineers will take designs from concept to permit and construction document sets, define critical equipment specifications, and approve equipment submittals. Engineers will support construction and be part of the process from site selection review through commissioning and turnover, serving as subject matter experts in mechanical engineering. We support continued learning opportunities and ongoing employee development. Teamwork is essential at Amazon. You must be able to work within a team and depend on others to accomplish the required work. You will collaborate with internal groups as well as external groups including utilities, manufacturers, vendors, and contractors. Amazon has a global presence. Travel will occasionally be necessary but should not exceed 20%. International support may be part of the job, including developing detailed schematic design packages. An understanding of international mechanical design requirements is helpful but not required.
