Join our team at the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), where we provide, operate, and assure command and control of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) services to the Department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations. This position plays a crucial role in supporting DISA's capabilities and services.
The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector/Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSMO-II) contract is seeking a
Network Engineer III
to oversee the installation, configuration, testing, monitoring, servicing of network equipment, and activation of networks supporting the Department of Defense networks. Primary Responsibilities: Coordinate with customers and execute the Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A) while managing all reporting duties and data entry for new network equipment and service activation, ensuring compliance with DISA standards.
Configure and maintain DISA's out-of-band management network with Cisco and Juniper devices tailored for site-specific baseline configurations.
Perform software upgrades on Cisco and Juniper devices to enhance network performance.
Develop and update project planning documentation for creating IP addressing schemes and assigning ports on out-of-band management nodes.
Conduct systems analysis techniques, collaborating with users to determine requirements for hardware, software, or system functionalities supporting customer resources.
Verify the accuracy of information regarding points of contact (POC), locations, and interfaces as per established requirements.
Engage with DISA project managers and/or customers to address any issues related to unclear or incomplete requirements.
Facilitate stakeholder approvals to ensure the smooth progress of service requests.
Basic Qualifications: Strong knowledge of network hardware specifications, configuration processes, and industry standards.
Experience in network engineering, problem management, and performance management.
Understanding of networking architecture and ability to evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve existing capabilities.
Familiarity with data and voice network design, utilizing various transmission systems and protocols.
Proficient in network services like BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, and VRF.
Skilled in configuring, activating, testing, and analyzing network systems.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while being self-motivated to achieve assignments.
Excellent written and verbal communication, team-building, and collaboration skills.
Must possess an active Secret security clearance.
DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience with DISA systems and processes is a plus.
Experience with SharePoint data entry and processing.
Ability to order services on behalf of the customer and input service requests into the DISA Storefront (DSF).
Experience in conducting customer outreach to ensure POC, location, and interface accuracy on all orders.
Education and Experience: Requires a BS degree and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or a Master's degree with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience. (An equivalent combination of education and experience is also acceptable.)
