Join our team at the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), where you will play a crucial role in providing, operating, and ensuring command and control of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) services for the Department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations. As a vital member of our team, you'll directly support DISA's capabilities and services.
We are currently seeking a motivated
Network Engineer III - Implementations
to oversee installation, configuration, testing, monitoring, and servicing of network equipment in support of DoD projects. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to critical network operations at Scott AFB, IL. This role requires
U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance. Primary Responsibilities: Coordinate with customers for Initial Test and Acceptance (IT&A), manage reporting functions, and accurately input data related to new network equipment and service activations to align with DISA standards.
Configure and maintain DISA's out-of-band management network with Cisco and Juniper devices, using tailored baseline configurations.
Perform software upgrades on Cisco and Juniper devices.
Create and update project documentation to set IP addressing schemes and manage equipment management IP selections.
Utilize systems analysis techniques to consult with users and identify hardware, software, or system requirements.
Ensure accuracy of all information related to points of contact (POC), locations, and interfaces in compliance with specified requirements.
Verify the correct POCs for each circuit location.
Engage with DISA project managers and customers to clarify and resolve any ambiguous or incomplete requirements.
Collaborate with stakeholders to facilitate necessary approvals, ensuring a seamless process for service requests.
Basic Qualifications: In-depth knowledge of network hardware specifications, configuration, and testing processes.
Experience in network engineering, performance management, and problem resolution.
Familiarity with networking architecture and ability to evaluate and recommend new technologies.
Understanding of data and voice network design across various transmission systems, including military and commercial protocols such as BGP and ISIS.
Proficiency with network services (BGP, OSPF, DHCP, DNS, TCP/IP, WAN, VPN, VLAN, VRF) and network appliances (routers, load balancers, firewalls).
Expertise in configuring, activating, testing, and analyzing network systems.
Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment while independently driving tasks to completion.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong ability to collaborate with team members.
An active Secret security clearance is mandatory.
DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 baseline certification (Security+ CE or equivalent) is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience at DISA or knowledge of DISA systems and operational processes.
Familiarity with SharePoint data entry and order processing.
Experience managing service orders and inputs via the DISA Storefront (DSF).
Proven track record of ensuring accuracy in POC, location, and interface through customer outreach.
Required Education and Experience: BS degree with 4-8 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree with 2-6 years of relevant experience. (Or a combination of education and experience.)
