Overview

The Homelessness Resolution Navigator, based in the Department of Community Safety & Well-Being and the Crossroads Community Center, provides field-based outreach and navigation services to individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness in unincorporated Adams County and neighboring municipalities. This includes crisis intervention, survival gear distribution, shelter and service referrals, and transportation supportall aimed at helping individuals transition to stable housing. This grant-funded position runs through September 30, 2026. Peer Support Specialist certification is available upon completion of required training. Nights / weekends may occasionally be necessary for community engagement. Responsibilities for Success

Act as a subject matter expert in navigating housing, employment, and benefit systems for low-income and underserved populations, including coaching residents through forms and paperwork. Build trust-based relationships with residents, empowering them to take steps toward ending homelessness, while knowing when to refer to other services outside the programs scope. Serve as the main point of contact for individuals experiencing homelessness in unincorporated Adams County, including managing drop-in hours and distributing outreach gear (e.g., tents, gloves, hand warmers). Collaborate with community partners, service providers, and the Adams County Street Outreach Network to coordinate services, respond to encampments and hotspots, and collect feedback on overlooked issues. Use evidence-based approaches such as trauma-informed care, low-barrier services, harm reduction, de-escalation, and Housing First to engage and support residents. Advocate for both individual needs and broader systems-level changes that benefit people experiencing homelessness. Enter and maintain accurate case notes and data in the Homelessness Management Information System (HMIS); support broader outreach initiatives, proposals, and projects as needed. Demonstrate strong organizational, scheduling, and project management skills; plan and supervise varied activities within policy and budget guidelines. Exhibit professionalism, ethical behavior, and sound judgment when addressing challenges, resolving issues, and adapting to urgent needs or shifting priorities. Perform other duties as assigned. Lived Experience

Personal experience with incarceration, substance use, behavioral health concerns, poverty, homelessness, or intersectionality. Lived experience in the Denver Metro Area preferred. Actively pursuing wellness, recovery, and/or resiliency. Commitment to stigma reduction and a passion for serving people experiencing homelessness. Desire to pursue personal and professional development, including Peer Support Specialist Certification. Compassionate Problem-Solver

Lived experience may include involvement with the justice system, incarceration, poverty, homelessness, and/or behavioral health challenges. Up to one year of combined experience may be credited for demonstrated lived experience. One year of outreach experience with homeless population preferred. Justice involvement, homelessness, or experience in receiving public benefits can substitute for professional experience. Minimum three years released from supervision. None required for academic experience; up to one year toward combined experience for earned credits in higher education may be considered. License, Background Check and Other

Background Check: Criminal background check is required. Petty crimes or crimes older than two years should not automatically disqualify. Adams County JAFA compliance information included in posting.
