Position Overview

The Clerk III performs advanced general clerical duties of a complex nature and may provide factual information requiring knowledge of the policies and procedures of both the assigned and related work areas.

This is a temporary grant funded position through December 31 year 2025 contingent upon grantor funding and grant extensions.

This grant position will be eligible for participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) after 6 consecutive months of continuous employment.

What you will be doing •Assists area staff performing diversified clerical and typewriting duties •Provides training and assistance to the staff •Provides guidance on procedures, work policies, format and vocabulary •Assists with telephone calls and responds to inquiries •Composes and edits correspondence based on knowledge of office procedures and policies •Initiates purchase requests as assigned •Maintains payroll, leave requests, and budget controls as assigned •Reviews ongoing correspondence for completeness and grammatical correctness •Compiles various reports and may take dictation as requested •Processes forms and updates information as assigned •Reviews and uses independent judgment to determine authenticity of documents •Interacts with other College departments and outside agencies in regards to assigned functions •Performs other duties as assigned

What you need to succeed •High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of experience in clerical work; including or supplemented by college courses in business practices or any equivalent combination of experience and training •All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution •Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, policies and procedures, and state rules and statutes •Possess a high comprehensive understanding of the English Language •Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database software applications, to include word processing, spreadsheets, and computer keyboarding skills •Knowledge of office practices and procedures and office equipment; such as, photocopier, printer, fax machine, and calculator •Possess excellent communication and customer service skills •Ability to think, reason, and make sound judgments to decide how duties and responsibilities are completed in compliance with college standards and guidelines •Ability to read and interpret documents and procedure manual •Ability to efficiently and accurately write routine reports and correspondence •Ability to handle and resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations •Ability to work during peak periods including evening or weekend assignments •Ability to work well in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty and staff
