Travel Modeling and Data Analytics Coordinator (Analyst VI) Denver is a position with the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). This role develops and implements long-range travel modeling, data analytics, and information management to support planning, policy development, and resource allocation for the Mobility Section of the Office of Transportation Analytics. Responsibilities
Coordinate and provide technical expertise, support, and consultation on travel modeling and traffic analyses for large technical projects, including the statewide travel model and the integration of big data sources into the traffic monitoring program. Provide consultation on travel modeling, multimodal data collection and analysis, and other mobility-related activities. Lead in identifying and providing guidance, resources, and support for travel modeling and traffic analysis in the development of plans, policies, and projects. Develop and review guidelines for the travel modeling unit to ensure alignment with statewide planning processes, performance management goals, and CDOT big data initiatives. Develop and implement long-range program goals to support CDOT planning, analytic, and information management objectives, policies, and procedures. Manage contractors and deploy resources to meet changing conditions and priorities. Oversee large and complex projects, including the development or upgrade of travel and traffic models and multimodal data integrations. Collaborate with project managers to track budgets for Mobility Section projects and identify potential procurement or deadline issues in advance. Provide technical modeling guidance on complex and political projects and assess feasibility of applying the statewide travel model to various requests. Conduct modeling research, recommend enhancements and data integrations, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Work with stakeholders on corridor studies requiring model upgrades, and provide guidance to consultants on implementing upgrades as needed. Other duties as assigned. Work Environment
Schedule typically 8:00 am 5:00 pm, MondayFriday, with potential for a flexible schedule. Possible work-from-home days after training is completed. Periodic travel in Metro Denver/Front Range; occasional overnight travel within Colorado. Minimum Qualifications
A total of at least nine (9) years of professional experience as specified below. At least four (4) years in business management, civil engineering, computer science, data analytics, economics, GIS, mathematics, planning, or statistics. At least five (5) years of professional work experience directly with travel forecasting models in transportation planning or a related field, including two (2) years as a program or project manager. Education and Experience
A combination of relevant education and experience equal to at least nine (9) years. Education from an accredited U.S. college or university in business administration, civil engineering, computer science, data analytics, economics, GIS, mathematics, planning, statistics, or related fields will be considered. Professional work experience directly with travel forecasting models in acquiring, analyzing, and interpreting data related to transportation planning, which includes two years as a program or project manager, will be considered. Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated success with the duties listed in the Description of the Job section. State service experience related to the duties of this position. High ethics and integrity; strong knowledge of travel modeling, traffic analysis, and data analysis concepts. Experience with ERIS GIS software, transportation modeling tools (TransCAD, CUBE, EMME/3), and relational databases (SQL/Oracle). Ability to work under tight deadlines, take initiative, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
