Overview

Elections Data Analyst (Hybrid) Colorado Department of State, Elections Division. The Elections Division supervises elections in the State of Colorado, supporting 64 counties in planning and executing elections that comply with relevant federal and state election laws. Responsibilities

Support the Division through collecting, analyzing, and visualizing data. Support the Division through designing, editing, and visualizing GIS data. Maintain confidentiality of all voters' confidential and personal identifying information, personnel information, and any other confidential or proprietary information, and comply with all State and Department policies regarding professional conduct and professional practices. Data collection and analysis: collaborate with program managers and internal stakeholders to identify data needs and reporting requirements; conduct advanced analysis on large and complex datasets from multiple sources including SCORE, ballot access, election night reporting, surveys, election administration and voting surveys, county cost forms, and GIS data; apply statistical methods, data mining and predictive modeling; identify inequities and root causes; prepare comprehensive reports and recommendations for diverse audiences. Design data visualization and graphics: create visual representations of data using charts, graphs, dashboards; design and edit GIS data; coordinate with SCORE data and other teams to obtain data for visualizations. Minimum Qualifications

This position requires 5 years of relevant professional experience and/or related education. You must meet one of the following options: Five (5) years of professional experience in data analysis, validation, and visualization in a business or organizational setting. Five (5) years combined experience and/or education: related education in Data Analysis, Data Science, Statistics, or Business Analytics or in a field of study closely related to the work environment. Note: You may attach an unofficial transcript to qualify for Option 2; combined education and experience may be used to equal five years. Preferred Qualifications And Competencies

State service experience related to the work preferred. Experience in data analysis including data mining techniques; data cleansing, transformation, and validation. Experience with designing and editing GIS data. Strong proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Excel, Access, or similar. Experience implementing data validation rules; experience with Agile methodologies. Ability to apply statistical methods, data mining techniques, and predictive modeling to extract insights. Experience working with stakeholders to determine data visualization and graphics needs. Experience with database management tools; ensure data integrity and resolve discrepancies. Working knowledge of Excel, including advanced formulas; collaborate with others to achieve shared goals. Professional experience with local or national election processes; highly collaborative approach. Microsoft Office Suite skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Strong verbal and written communication; analytical thinking and problem solving; ability to work independently and in a team; commitment to diversity and inclusion. Conditions of Employment
