Salary:

$17.00/hr + commensurate with experience to work calendar for 25-26 school year.

Under the guidance and supervision of the Safety and Security Manager, the Security Officer is responsible for helping to provide a secure school environment in order to ensure the safety and welfare of students, employees, and visitors while on campus.

Duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Campus Safety and Security. •Monitors and reviews TBP buildings, parking lots, and surrounding area security camera footage and alarm systems to detect and address potential threats. •Performs regular door checks to ensure that all interior and exterior doors and gates are closed and locked and in proper working order. •Maintains a high level of visibility to deter unsafe and/or illegal behavior by monitoring arrival and dismissal, lunch supervision, hallways and common areas, and patrolling campus grounds and parking lots. •Intervenes and uses force when the threat of imminent serious bodily injury or death exists to any person. •Assists administration with unruly community members. Remains calm in potentially volatile situations to diffuse confrontational situations between students or others. •Reports any inappropriate activities or unauthorized persons on or around campus to appropriate personnel. Escort individuals off campus, if necessary, due to safety concerns or violations. •Responds immediately to reports of drugs, weapons, or other emergencies/disturbances in the school. Notify administration and law enforcement as appropriate. •Assists administration or public officials in emergency situations as needed. •Monitors SafeZone alerts by campus staff and responds via OmniGuard. •Collaborates with the Director of Campus Safety and Security and campus administration to develop, monitor, and implement a school safety program. •Maintain written reports of incidents and daily activity logs. •Understands and complies with all district policies, procedures, and expectations, as articulated in the employee handbook or as communicated by administration. •Participate in all school drills (fire, lockdown, evacuation, secure, shelter) and ensure students, staff and visitors follow procedures. •Attend training and maintain knowledge of safety protocols and emergency response practices within guidelines of Trinity Basin Preparatory policies/procedures and the Texas School Safety Center. •Serve as a positive role model for students to promote respectful interactions. •Other duties as assigned by the Director of Safety and Security.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to grasp, handle or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Requirements: •High School Diploma or GED. •CPR training preferred or willingness to become certified. •Must possess a valid (Class C) driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. •Active Level III License for Commissioned Security Officer through Texas Department of Public Safety •Level III Government Letter Of Authority Security Officer Licenses through Texas Department of Public Safety •Pass minimum firearm standards set by the Texas Department of Public Safety •Purchase approved gun, ammunition, and holster
