RESPONSIBILITIES

Administer respiratory treatments, medications, and life support to patients. Perform diagnostic tests for pulmonary and cardiovascular conditions. Conduct and score sleep studies (polysomnography) and provide immediate analysis when needed. Document care accurately and communicate effectively with healthcare teams. Comply with all hospital protocols, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program. Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) with one of the following: o

RRT-RPSGT (Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists), or o

RRT/CRT-SDS (Sleep Disorders Specialist through NBRC). Minimum of one year of experience in both respiratory therapy and sleep studies. Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP. Strong skills in reading and interpreting clinical data, professional literature, and technical procedures. Capable of writing detailed reports and procedural documentation. Ability to effectively communicate and present information to diverse groups including patients, families, and clinical teams. Proficient in clinical math and capable of solving technical problems in varied situations. Physical requirement: Must be able to lift 35 pounds and perform moderate walking, standing, and sitting.

ENVIRONMENT:

This position is located at South Peninsula Hospital, a 22-bed acute care facility with a 28-bed long-term care unit in Homer, Alaska. Clinical settings include ICU, ER, Family Birthing Center, and observation and medical-surgical units. The facility is clean, supportive, and team-oriented. Work involves variable hours and occasional night shifts for sleep studies. You may be exposed to infectious diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and other occupational hazards such as needle sticks, caustic chemicals, and moving mechanical parts. While most work is conducted indoors in a moderate-noise environment, staff may occasionally be exposed to radiation, airborne particles, and electrical shock risks.
