About the Role: Middle School History TeacherAs a Middle School History Teacher, you will be part of a dynamic team that empowers students to become self-guided learners. You will develop subject mastery while understanding the socio-emotional changes that middle school students experience. Your history classes will not only teach facts but will also empower students' voices, helping them become informed global citizens through:
- Engaging Instruction: Facilitate student-led discussions, encouraging debate and critical thinking.
- Data-Driven Analysis: Collaborate with your principal and instructional coach to analyze student work and adapt your teaching strategies.
- Positive School Culture: Build strong relationships with students and families, ensuring everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.
1. Instruction
- Facilitate engaging discussions on historical topics, guiding students through open-ended questions and peer debates.
- Teach an in-house curriculum that highlights the diverse histories of Indigenous peoples, African Americans, women, and ancient cultures.
- Create an inclusive environment where students feel empowered to express their evidence-based opinions.

- Meet weekly to analyze student work and implement strategies for differentiated instruction.

- Required Experience:
- 1-2 years of experience impacting K-12 students in urban schools preferred.
- Academic expertise in Education, History, Geography, Political Science, or related fields.
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution is required. Certification is not mandatory at hiring, but you must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements.

CompensationThe salary for this role ranges from $50,000 to $64,700, determined by factors such as relevant teaching experience and education certifications.
