Department: School of Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering, and Computer Science Location: Metropolitan Campus Reports To: Dean of Advanced Manufacturing & Engineering Employment Type: Part-Time Faculty Union Position: Non-Union Work Schedule: Monday - Friday standard college hours and/or some evenings. The days and hours are flexible, so we can work with the candidate's schedule. Job Description: Provides instructional training for the Certified Fiber Optic Technician and Installer program, a non-credit program within the Workforce, Community and Economic Development Division. Training prepares students to pass FOA's Certified Fiber Optic Technician Exam. Essential Functions: Responsible for providing instruction and preparing lesson plans based on established curriculum of The Fiber Optic Association. Maintains accurate, up-to-date records of student academic and attendance performance. Continually promotes students' development and effective use of skills in areas such as critical and analytical thinking, evaluation, communication, professionalism, customer service, problem solving, and decision-making. Required Qualifications: 5 years of industry experience in a related field including documented experience installing and testing fiber optic networks. Familiarity with Fiber Optic Equipment, Experience with fusion splicing and several termination types, experience testing with visual inspection, VFL, OLTS, OTDR Required FOA certification FOA CFOS/I Instructor Certification (must be certified prior to first day of class). Applicants meeting these requirements will be required to take one or more online courses and exams on their knowledge and may be required to show evidence of appropriate skills and abilities. Knowledge of course curriculum created by the Fiber Optic Association Advanced communication (verbal, written, and interpersonal) and organizational skills. Sensitivity to respond appropriately to the needs of a diverse population. Participation in multiple installation jobs, preferably including premises and OSP installations. Experience preparing various cable types. The work is performed in a normal, professional office environment; The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated; Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to perform the duties of the job and will perform repetitive motions with hands/fingers using a computer mouse and keyboard to type, as well as the equipment required for a Fiber Optic Technician. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, pamphlets, books, etc. Set-Rate Non-Bargaining Part-Time Position: This is a Part-Time Non-Bargaining Unit Position, with the following Set Rate of Pay: $36.00/hour. Special Note: If hired, you must reside in the state of Ohio and be within commuting distance of this work location/campus to respond to onsite work demands upon the employment start date and throughout the duration of your employment with the College.
