Position Summary

This position is responsible for basic fiber splicing; preparation, installation and repair of single fiber opticcable using fusion splicing equipment. Under supervision, performs limited testing of fiber. Health and safety are a top priority for Comlink next to delivering quality products and services to our customers which means to keep you safe, you are also responsible for following all safety protocols, standards, and expectations. Essential Functions

Accurately read and interpret basic splicing documents, splicing engineer packets and network plan designs in preparation for each job At the job site, access panels through manholes and/or hand holes Identify type of fiber cable within fiber cases and determine fibers to be used Using a fusion splicer, splice fiber optic cable in a variety of elements, indoor and outdoor Repair fiber optic cable as required Document and maintain accurate splicing records and job site notes Responsible for complying with all safety standards Responsible for upkeep and maintaining company vehicle, inventory, and small tools Follow all administrative processes and procedures Under supervision, learn testing processes using Optical Time Domain Reflectometers (OTDR) Learn and keep current with fiber optic design and splicing processes, tools, and techniques Protects and keeps company proprietary information confidential Other duties as assigned

Essential Requirements

Technical degree in line work or fiber engineering or the equivalent in training and/or work experience. Minimum of 2 years demonstrated splicing work experience Experience knowledge using Fujikura fusion splicing equipment Must possess strong problem solving, decision making, analytical skills and organizational skills Ability to read, write, understand, and follow written procedures Ability to work from an Aerial lift truck and/or ladder Ability to use light source and power meters Experience using Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Excel Position requires driving between work sites Travel may be required Must have a valid drivers license Must be able to pass pre-employment background check and drug tests as required

Preferred Knowledge and Experience

Experience using OTDR Knowledge of Fast Reporter software Experience with Google earth files

Physical Requirements

This position requires a combination of mobile and sedentary work with the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, to perform work frequently in close quarters, crawl spaces, manholes, and other confined areas. The worker is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways and to perform work in a confined space. Crouching and climbing where body agility is emphasized is required on a frequent basis. Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move equipment and objects up to 75 pounds. Must be able to meet physical requirements to perform work using equipment including, but not limited to, ladders and bucket truck operating lifts. Visual acuity to perform activities related to computer work, finger dexterity for keyboarding and operating related job equipment and hand tools. Comlink Solutions is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
