Your Role: High School Math Teacher

As a High School Math Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in guiding students to become self-directed learners. Your passion for mathematics will inspire and motivate students, helping them develop critical thinking skills and a love for the subject. Together with your grade and content teams, you will create an engaging learning environment that prepares students for academic autonomy and college-level coursework.

Key Responsibilities

1. Instruction

  • Teach a Math curriculum that includes Algebra, Geometry, and Calculus, preparing students for Advanced Placement (AP) and collegiate-level coursework.
  • Support students in problem-solving and critical thinking.
  • Foster confidence and meaningful engagement with mathematics.
  • Encourage students to construct and justify viable arguments using reasoning and math vocabulary.
  • Create a community of self-guided learners where students feel safe and engaged.
  • Collaborate with the Math department to set academic and engagement goals.

2. Data Analysis

  • Meet weekly with your principal and/or instructional coach to analyze student work and assessment trends.
  • Implement strategies to differentiate instruction for all learners.

3. School Culture

  • Build positive relationships with students to ensure they feel seen, loved, and heard.
  • Partner with families to provide resources that support their child's learning needs.
  • Engage in practice-based professional development, mentorship, and coaching.
  • Participate in weekly school-wide meetings to cultivate community and encourage student achievement.
  • Collaborate with your grade-level team to develop academic goals and instructional strategies.
Qualifications
  • A commitment to supporting students’ social, emotional, and academic development.
  • An enthusiasm for collaboration with internal and external partners.
  • A self-directed learner who actively seeks and implements feedback.
  • Required Experience:
    • 1-2 years of experience impacting K-12 students in urban schools preferred.
    • Academic expertise in Mathematics, Science, Technology, Engineering, or related fields.
    • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. Certification is not necessary to start, but you must meet NY state certification eligibility requirements.

Compensation

The salary for this role ranges from $50,000 to $64,700, determined by factors such as relevant teaching experience and education certifications. Candidates without full-time teaching experience will likely start at $50,000.
