Overview
POSITION TITLE: SENIOR BUYER DEPARTMENT: Purchasing REPORTS TO: Manager, Materials HOURS/SCHEDULE: 7:00am-3:30pm or 8:00am-4:30pm HOURLY/SALARY STATUS: Exempt POSITION OVERVIEW: Manage variety of material requirements to support the needs of the company. Duties and Responsibilities Procure raw materials, components, and finished goods in a timely and cost-effective manner, with emphasis on steel products, upholstery materials, and molded plastic items. Negotiate with raw material suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and availability with delivery requirements. Help develop and lead the fabric council to support sourcing activities and assist in developing new supplier relationships. Strong understanding and experience with international supplier relationships and contracts. Support activities related to an established Asian fabricator handling direct-to-customer sales orders, as needed. Identify and resolve issues in both domestic and international supply chains to maintain material flow and minimize delays. Process requisitions, issue discrete purchase orders, and establish or maintain blanket contracts to support operational needs. Collaborate closely with internal departments including engineering, quality, planning, and production teams throughout sourcing and procurement processes. Communicate HSC Forecast and Supplier Scorecards to suppliers and ensure their understanding of the data. Manage buyers workbench and MRP exception messages to ensure on-time part availability. Adjust planning parameters within MRP to reflect changes in lead time, order quantity, and demand. As necessary, work collaboratively with suppliers to expedite orders to meet changes in demand. Apply thorough knowledge of purchasing practices, including ethics, sourcing standards, supplier quality control, and competitive bidding procedures. Utilize data collection and market research techniques to establish sources of supply, assess vendor performance, and support demand forecasting. Apply sound business judgment in supporting supplier agreements. Use basic statistical tools for demand forecasting, cost analysis, and supply planning.

Computer Skills
Tier 1 or 2 ERP systems experience preferred, such as SAP, Oracle, or IFS Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Excel, Outlook, and Word). Presentation skills with Microsoft PowerPoint Video conferencing software such as Microsoft Teams or Zoom
Education/Experience/Additional Qualifications
Bachelors degree in a business field will accept equivalent experience. 5-8 years professional purchasing in traditional manufacturing environment Solid negotiation and business development skills required. Strong understanding of International Supplier relationships and contracts. Experience managing/sourcing multi-million-dollar long-term supply contracts. Strong international communication, interpersonal, organization and problem-solving skills. Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships, acting as a liaison with vendors, management personnel and co-workers. Ability to prepare and present written or oral reports. APICS or CPM or other professional certification preferred. Working knowledge of Supplier Quality Systems and Rating Systems Ability to read and understand material drawings. Sound understanding of coil, sheet, general line, tube steel, upholstery material, and molded plastic items sources is preferred.
