Payroll Specialist
As a Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the payroll of over 100 employees on a weekly basis. This includes handling compensation across multiple state jurisdictions and unions, as well as processing new hires, employee changes, and voluntary deductions in the payroll system. Responsibilities Enter new hires, employee changes, and voluntary deductions in the payroll system. Process manual checks such as terminations and discrepancies. Prepare and process both hourly and salaried weekly payrolls. Review computed wages and correct errors to ensure accuracy. Ensure all changes to payroll are processed correctly. Prepare and process garnishments. Verify non-exempt personnel timesheets for compliance with policies and regulations. Calculate new hire pay, termination pay, and any required adjustments. Maintain accurate payroll records and employee files. Process stop payments or adjustments of payroll. Handle garnishments, deductions, and vacation/sick accruals. Calculate bonuses as requested. Ensure accurate computing, withholding, and deductions. Prepare various payroll and management reports, journal entries, and reconcile quarterly payroll taxes. Essential Skills Experience with payroll for 100+ employees. Knowledge of multi-state payroll, especially in OR, WA, and preferably ID & CA. Understanding of union payroll processes. Familiarity with wage and hour laws. Experience in the construction industry (1+ year). Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with ERP systems. Familiarity with regulatory agencies for taxes and benefits. Experience in unemployment auditing. Knowledge of per diem and travel expenses. Ability to upload information for 401K. Work Environment Work within an engineering, construction, fabrication, and installation company that provides design, fabrication, installation, and repair services for Boilers, Heat-Exchangers, Pressure Vessels, and Refractory Applications.
