Make a difference today within the Division of Parks and Recreation! We're seeking a driven administrative professional to assist with the coordination of the division's personnel functions. From the hire coordination of Summer Camp staff to Security Guards, this technical position will serve as liaison to County Human Resources, Risk Management, Payroll, and Procurement departments. This position independently performs and coordinates duties in the areas of recruitment, selection & onboarding, disciplinary action, leave requests, timesheet entry inquiries and the purchasing of parks and recreation equipment/materials, etc. Supervision is received from the Administrative Support Supervisor. Associate's degree Minimum 4 years of administrative support work experience that includes some HR or personnel experience Current notary for the state of Maryland or ability to become certified within 90 days of hire Intermediate skills in Microsoft 365 Knowledge / skills / abilities: Working knowledge of human resources management theory and practices Ability to provide oversight and direction to hiring managers, new employees, and volunteers as it relates to the recruitment and onboarding process Ability to effectively organize work, make independent decisions, determine priorities and complete assigned duties with minimal supervision Discretion and good judgment in dealing with sensitive and personal information with ability to maintain appropriate confidentiality Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills including the ability to clearly explain policies and procedures Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, representatives of cooperating agencies and the general public Preference may be given for: Degree in human resources or a business related field Work experience supporting recruitment and/or onboarding processes Work experience utilizing an HR or enterprise management software (e.g. Neo.gov, INFOR, HRIS or comparable) Physical requirements / working conditions: While working in this position, the employee is required to frequently sit, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive motions; and occasionally reach While working in this position, the employee is required to constantly work indoors, and rarely work outdoors, walk on uneven ground, work in hot temperatures above 100 degree and cold temperatures below 32 degrees, work in a dirty, dusty and noisy environment and near machinery Additional information / examination process: Available for a minimum of three mandatory parks and recreation events Available for varied evening and weekend work hours to accommodate meetings, special events, etc. Ability to provide own transportation to meetings, etc. Due to the nature of work performed by this position, and the access to secure databases, the employee will be required to undergo a fingerprint supported background investigation through the Division of Parks and Recreation.
