Project Specialist

Harris County Precinct 4 is seeking talented and skilled applicants for the role of Project Specialist within the Engineering and Construction team. This role will play an integral part in achieving Precinct 4's mission and vision to deliver services to and advocate for all people in Harris County, as well as exemplifying our core values of heart, hustle and higher standards. In this multifaceted role, the primary focus will be providing administrative support to the Engineering and Construction team. Typical activities include updating and distributing project level reporting, developing and maintaining a project file system, coordinating various tasks assigned to other County agencies, developing administrative procedures, scheduling of events, and managing calendars for senior staff. Another aspect of this role will be preparing responses to various project and traffic operation related constituent requests received by the Engineering and Construction team. Effectively communicating with and addressing concerns raised by Precinct 4 residents and other members of the community in a gracious and respectful manner will also be a key aspect of this role, along with providing exceptional customer service to the constituents of Harris County Precinct 4. Job duties and responsibilities include: Complete various administrative tasks associated with ongoing road and bridge design and construction projects, such as updating and distributing status reports and entering data into project management software. Coordinate and prepare responses to constituent information requests, in consultation with Project Managers, senior management and/or the communications team. Coordinating the preparation of Traffic Studies completed by the Office of the County Engineer on behalf of the Precinct. Complete scheduling of meetings and other events for the Engineering and Construction and Planning teams. Manage the daily calendars of several senior staff, including scheduling meetings and events. Develop administrative procedures and processes to be utilized by the Engineering and Construction team. Develop and maintain a file structure for the Engineering and Construction team to store design and construction documentation. Review and verify administrative documents, including expense reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance to organizational policies and regulatory requirements. Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) Experience: Two (2) or more years of administrative experience Licensure: Valid Texas driver's license with a good driving record Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of Microsoft suite of applications including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint. Ability to write correspondence and the ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Proficient in effectively presenting information in one-on-one situations to visitors and other employees of the organization is required. Excellent customer service skills. Multi-tasker. Problem-solver with critical thinking skills. Can operate basic office equipment. Detail-oriented. Self-starter who works well both independently and as part of a team. Honest and trustworthy. Education: Associates or Bachelor's degree in any relevant field from an accredited college or university (preferred) Experience: Five (5) or more years of administrative experience with a governmental agency or in the architecture, engineering and/or construction sectors (preferred) General Information

Position Type, Salary and Typical Hours of Work: Regular | Full-time | 40 hours per week. This may include weekends and holidays.
