We are seeking a Staff Backend Software Engineer to design and implement high-performance, data-intensive applications that transform how medical professionals interact with patient imaging data. This role focuses on building scalable, reliable services and APIs while collaborating closely with product managers, designers, and data scientists. You will work in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment, contributing to solutions that optimize diagnostic workflows, improve patient outcomes, and support cutting-edge AI, NLP, and Computer Vision technologies. The ideal candidate thrives in collaborative, technically challenging projects and has a proven track record in large-scale backend systems. This position is primarily remote within the U.S., with occasional travel to headquarters for strategic meetings.
Accountabilities Design, implement, and maintain APIs and backend services to store, manage, and expose large volumes of radiology data. Collaborate with frontend, quality, and product teams to spec, write, test, and deploy code efficiently. Brainstorm and define features with product managers, designers, scientists, and GTM teams. Architect end-to-end solutions and contribute to quarterly roadmaps aligned with company goals. Mentor and train team members on coding standards, design techniques, and best practices. Conduct code reviews, pair programming, and contribute to strong testing practices to avoid regressions. Evaluate trade-offs between solutions based on cost, value, and business needs. Requirements
10+ years of professional experience in Python or a similar object-oriented language (Python3 preferred). 8+ years of experience designing APIs for large-scale applications. 10+ years of database experience (SQL or NoSQL) and performance optimization. Proven ability to diagnose, prevent, and resolve large-scale performance and reliability issues. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including writing documentation and RFCs. Ability to make informed trade-offs between multiple technical solutions based on business needs. Bonus: experience with AWS, Django, Docker, Kubernetes, and general full-stack development. Benefits

Salary Range:
$175,000 - $200,000 annually (U.S. base) + equity + benefits; flexible depending on experience and location.
